Auckland District Health Board says it's confident its back-up generators at Auckland and Starship hospitals will work in the event of a power cut after a test this morning.
Some surgery was delayed last week when a fault was discovered in the system which automatically started the generators during power cuts.
A test on Friday suggested technicians had repaired the generators' automated system, and the board's incident controller Ngaire Buchanan said a follow-up test today was also successful.
"The success of this follow-up test gives us added confidence that repairs to the generators late last week were effective," she said.
"We can all be reassured that, in the event of a loss of mains power, the generators will kick-in and supply power to Building 32 and Starship.
"Today's theatre caseload will proceed as planned."
