KEY POINTS:
The fog has lifted at Auckland Airport, allowing domestic planes to resume flying.
More than 30 domestic flights were cancelled or delayed before midday today and one international flight from Samoa was diverted to Wellington.
An Auckland Airport spokeswoman said the delays affected mostly domestic flights as international flights were able to land without the luxury of clear vision.
Flights were being rescheduled and passengers should contact their airline for information.
The spokeswoman earlier said airlines intended to reschedule flights and updates on the situation would be given regularly.
"We encourage travellers to contact their airline to find out whether their flight's been delayed and whether it had been rescheduled."
