Fog delays flights at Wellington Airport

Flights in and out of the capital have been disrupted by thick fog smothering the city hours ahead of today's America's Cup parade.

A number of domestic flights have been delayed and at least one flight from Nelson has been diverted as bad weather starts to settle over the country.

One Twitter-user at the airport says all inbound flights have been suspended.

However, Wellington City Council is determined not to let the thick blanket of fog disrupt their America's Cup celebrations.

The sailors and Auld Mug are due to celebrate their Bermuda win at midday today with a parade through the CBD.

A council spokesperson said the parade was still on as the fog should clear by midday.

Despite fog delays, the Emirates Team New Zealand sailors made it into the city safe and sound, posting a picture of them enjoying the city last night.
