Fog closes Wellington Airport

Fog closed Wellington Airport this morning and hundreds of people had travel plans disrupted as aircraft were unable to land.

Air New Zealand estimated about 800 passengers had been affected by the delays to around 20 flights.

The airline said only one flight has been able to leave Wellington this morning and no flights have been able to land.

Overnight, four international flights were diverted to Auckland.


The fog lifted at lunchtime but left a backlog of flights.
