Fog closes Christchurch Airport

Several hundred air travellers were affected when fog closed Christchurch International Airport for an hour and a half this morning.

An airport spokeswoman said five flights were cancelled when fog rolled in about 7.30am. The airport was operational again by 9am.

An Air New Zealand spokeswoman said return flights from Auckland and Wellington were cancelled along with an Air Nelson service to Nelson.

Several hundred passengers were affected.
