Fog causes havoc at Christchurch Airport

Thick fog has caused the cancellation of a number of flights through Christchurch Airport.

Two Air New Zealand flights due to arrive at 7.30am from Wellington and Auckland have been cancelled and another flight from Auckland due to touch down at 8.10am remained grounded.

The return flights to Auckland and Wellington leaving about 8am and the third bound for Auckland at 8.40am were also cancelled.

MetService said visibility was down to about 100 metres and the fog was widespread throughout the city.
