KEY POINTS:
Police are focusing on the car of a missing Napier woman after they failed to find her in a search of the Ahuriri Estuary yesterday.
Annabell Tumanako, 35, was reported missing on June 28 - five days after her car was left near the Ahuriri Estuary, Detective Sergeant Sean Hansen said.
A police team and four cadaver dogs searched the estuary for two days without success.
They are now focusing their inquiries on the woman's car, a silver 1990 Toyota Corona, registration number PI7806.
"We are relying on assistance from any member of the public who may have seen the vehicle being left there between 5pm on Saturday June 23 and 2am Sunday June 24," Mr Hansen said.
A full forensic examination of the car was still to be completed, he said.
There was no evidence at the moment to suggest foul play. The car had been unlawfully taken in the past and could be accessed and driven without a key.
Ms Tumanako had a "slight history of mental illness", he said.
