Oh no, not again.
Every time she jumps on a plane, the Prime Minister must be wondering what will go wrong next.
Yesterday, Helen Clark had a sense of deja vu while on her way to Latin America via Los Angeles and was awoken by crew to tell her about the air crash in New York.
She was also heading overseas when the September 11 terrorist attacks struck New York.
"Having watched September 11 happen ... you are thinking 'let's hope it's not [a repeat]'," she said.
About an hour after being told about yesterday's crash, she was able to speak to Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet head Mark Prebble from the cockpit of the plane.
She also spoke to Deputy Prime Minister Jim Anderton and Finance Minister Michael Cullen, who told her the situation did not demand she return to New Zealand.
But overseas travel and holidays have regularly brought her plenty of political grief:
* Jim Anderton provoked an argument over the Greens' backing of confidence motions while she was on her way to this year's Apec meeting in Shanghai.
* Ruth Dyson was caught drink-driving while the PM was returning from the South Pacific Forum.
* The row over Phillida Bunkle and Marian Hobbs claiming out-of-town living allowances erupted while their leader was on a climbing holiday in Chile.
* Tariana Turia delivered her infamous "holocaust" remark while Helen Clark was enjoying some rest and recreation in the Southern Alps.
* Labour Party president Michael Hirschfeld died while she was climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa.
