Canterbury has been rattled by a series of quakes today, with the biggest hitting at 12.30pm.
The 4.2-magnitude quake struck 10km south west of Christchurch and was 5km deep.
Also today quakes measuring 3.7, 3.1 and 3.2 in magnitude hit the area at 10.12am, 10.53am and 11am.
