Masterton mayor Lyn Patterson was exempt from the obligatory "onesie" as she helped with the collection for Wellington Free Ambulance in Queen St, Masterton, yesterday.
Yesterday was designated "Onesie Day" as part of the ambulance service's annual appeal, which continues until tomorrow.
The day was named after the one-piece uniforms worn by ambulance officers.
While supporters around Masterton donned fluffy onesies in homage to the appeal, Mrs Patterson had donated $50 to get a badge for her collector's smock, thus giving her an exemption.
She was stationed outside Masterton's Paper Plus with Wellington Free Ambulance Wairarapa paramedic Lisa Taylor. Mrs Patterson had been involved with last year's appeal.
