Flood-hit lagoon to be restored

The Government is spending $225,000 to restore Matata's western lagoon, damaged by last June's devastating floods in the Bay of Plenty region.

A spokesman for Conservation Minister Chris Carter said full restoration would have cost about $1 million but the Cabinet had opted for partial restoration because it was possible the lagoon could again be affected by flooding.
