Boat owners in Chaffers Marina in Wellington believed a floating brothel advertising its services in the area is risking boat security.
A public notice invited clients to phone a number and enjoy some "private pampering" aboard a yacht in Wellington Harbour.
But management have now said it has been shut down.
One Chaffers Marina local, who did not want to be named, said the marina is a respectable family area and the operation of such a service is inappropriate.
The managers of the marina say no unauthorised commercial activity is permitted in the marina.
Police are not becoming involved in the issue because the running of a brothel is no longer a police concern, as long as it is licensed.
Detective senior sergeant Shane Cotter said the boat came under local bylaws or body corporate rules.
