Lingering fog, which caused headaches for air travellers for more than five hours, has started to clear around Auckland.
In total, 42 domestic flights were cancelled and 42 more delayed due to poor weather today.
A flight from Wellington was cancelled and other arrivals and departures to and from Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown have been delayed because of the fog, an Auckland Airport spokesperson said.
One international flight from Brisbane set to land in Auckland had be diverted to Wellington airport but is scheduled to return to Auckland this afternoon.
An Auckland Airport spokesperson said the fog restrictions put in place at 7.23am were lifted at 12.31pm.
