A judge's decision to jail a flight attendant who said his stash of methamphetamine was for use with friends has been endorsed by the High Court.
If anything, the penalty may have been a shade light, the decision to throw out Brent Rodney Cotton's appeal suggests.
The 56-year-old man with no previous convictions was sentenced by Judge Geoff Rea in the Napier District Court three months ago to two years and three months' jail.
He had 47 grams of methamphetamine — 10 times the police threshold for possession for personal use, indicating it may have been for sale or supply.
Nailed by police on March 2, Cotton's appeal was heard by Justice Susan Thomas in the High Court in Napier on October 9, and a judgement delivered last week.
