Incredible acts of bravery, generosity and community spirit will be recognised at the second, and final, Christchurch Earthquake Awards in the city tomorrow night.
A total of 172 individuals, groups and organisations will receive awards at the special ceremony, including members of the public who pulled people from collapsed buildings during the killer February 22 earthquake.
Awards will also be handed out to people who helped in the emergency effort or were involved in community initiatives in the wake of the disaster.
The last award of the night will go to masked student superheroes Flat Man, and his sidekick Quake Kid, who donated 'relief boxes' to students and those in need.
The council presented the first round of earthquake awards on the first anniversary of the disaster and decided to run another round to ensure anyone deserving who missed out last time had the opportunity to be nominated.
