KEY POINTS:
A flasher who exposed himself to an oncoming car - unaware it was a policewoman - has been fined $450.
James Wayne Pritchard, 20, pleaded guilty in Nelson District Court yesterday to a charge of offensive behaviour, the Nelson Mail reported.
Sergeant Wayne Johnston told the court Pritchard was standing with a group of friends on Princes Drive, Nelson at about 11.30pm on December 15 when he exposed himself as a policewoman drove past.
Defence lawyer Wayne Jones said Pritchard had been drinking alcohol since 5pm that night and was not aware it was a police car approaching.
"In any event he admits it was a stupid thing to do."
Judge Heather Simpson agreed. "If you have to prove yourself to your mates, you should do it in another way."
