The public is being advised emergency flares will be fired off the south coast of Wellington tonight as the Coast Guard carries out a training exercise.
The red rocket and parachute type flares will be fired from the location of the sunken frigate HMNZS Wellington, just off Island Bay from 9pm to 9.40pm, police said today.
