Police are considering laying charges after a prank in a Wellington bar left a women with burns on her neck, face and hands.
A 21-year-old male bar patron poured cleaning fluid, believing it was alcohol, on to flaming cocktails early on Sunday morning. The resulting "fireball" burned a 19-year-old woman standing near the bar, police said.
Doctors who treated the woman at Hutt Hospital warned that the incident, which occurred at Maya Bar between 1.30am and 2am on Sunday, could have been more serious.
Police said they had spoken to the man and were checking tapes from security cameras in the bar before deciding if he would face charges.
