KEY POINTS:
A five-year-old boy died in what police describe as "tragic circumstances" in Blenheim yesterday after he was run over by a vehicle driven by a family member.
Acting Area Commander Tony Sampson of Marlborough police said the accident happened about 6:30pm yesterday.
The little boy was taken to Wairau Hospital by family members, but died shortly afterwards.
The case has been referred to the coroner and police are investigating.
