A five-year-old girl died in a fatal crash in North Otago last night.
Emergency services were called to the scene, on State Highway 1 north of the Moeraki Boulders turn off, around 4.50pm.
A Ford Ranger utility travelling south with four occupants collided head-on with a Holden station wagon with people on-board travelling north on SH1, Southern police Senior Sergeant Craig Brown said.
A 5-year-old girl travelling in the Holden died at the scene of the crash.
The remaining four occupants of the Holden were transported to Dunedin Public Hospital with moderate to serious injuries.
