A five-year-old girl was airlifted to hospital today after burning her feet in a central North Island mud pool.
The girl was walking on a track at the Tokaanu thermal pools near Turangi when she stepped into the mud pool around midday.
The Taupo-based Youthtown Trust rescue helicopter flew to the scene and the girl was treated by St John paramedics before being flown to Waikato Hospital for treatment.
A Waikato Hospital spokeswoman this evening said the girl was in a stable condition in a children's ward.
