More than 50 charges have been levelled against five men over a series of ram raids in South Auckland.
An investigation was launched in December after ten ram raids, where vehicles are used to smash through walls and buildings, caused more than $500,000 damage to Manukau businesses.
Police said five men, aged 18, 20, 21, 30 and 39, have been accused of carrying out eight of the raids.
They appeared in Manukau District Court this afternoon, where police opposed bail.
Detective Inspector Dave Lynch said he hoped the arrests would deter similar burglaries in South Auckland.
