Five Wairarapa athletes were selected to attend the national Young Olympians track and field training camp held at Wanganui last weekend.
They were Courtney Fafeita, Chris Girling-McLean, William Simpson, Vicki Paine and Jack Sinclair.
Only those who had placed in the first three at the New Zealand secondary schools championships or who are ranked in the top six seniors in their events were eligible for the camp where they received specialist tuition from leading coaches such as Tony Rogers, Chris Williams and Phil Jones.
This weekend will see Courtney Fafeita, William Simpson and Corrina Paine represent Wellington at the national 14-15yrs inter-provincial teams event at Palmerston North.
Fafeita will compete in the discus, shotput and 100m, Simpson in the 200m, 400m and long jump and Paine in the 400m, 800m and high jump.
