A five-legged calf from Reporoa is heading to a new home in the South Island.
The calf, born three months ago, had 35 people bidding for it the TradeMe auction website and has sold for $395.
It's not the first time the calf, nicknamed Legs, has been sold on the auction website. It sold just after Christmas for $360 but the buyer's partner refused to allow the sale to go through and it was re-listed recently.
Owner Jonathan King said he was pleased Legs had finally found a new home, even though he was only selling the calf for beer money.
"She deserves a good home," he said.
"I think there is a bit too much beer money though."
There had been a lot of interest in the calf with 35 bidders and dozens of comments left on the website, Mr King said.
"There was a lot of human interest in her," he said. "Even negative ones were left but they kept going back and making more comments."
The new owner, from Cromwell, planned to use the calf for a tourism show at a park he owned in the South Island, Mr King said.
"He said she would be part of a show," he said.
"I think it will be good for her."
Legs will be grazing on Mr King's pastures until the new owner picks it up in March.
"I will probably miss her because she has been a good little mate."
