Five men are in police custody after allegedly seriously assaulting two men at their Invercargill home last night.
Two men were taken to hospital after the attack at their home in the suburb of Richmond.
Senior Sergeant Richard McPhail said the men had suffered facial injuries, but he was not sure of the extent of those injuries.
It appeared the victims knew their attackers, he told NZPA.
Police were conducting a scene examination at the house today.
Five local men would appear in Invercargill District Court this morning to face charges relating to the incident.
