A fire at a southern Wairarapa workshop yesterday took almost five hours to extinguish. Ten fire engines, two tankers and two command vehicles from as far afield as Wellington were needed to contain the fire, said Chief Fire Officer Wayne Robinson.
Firefighters downwind of the blaze had to wear breathing apparatus because of fumes from burning polystyrene.
