Five Cromwell men went on trial today on kidnap and assault charges allegedly committed at Wanaka nearly a year ago.
Dean John Blair, 37, concrete placer, Craig Robert Moseley, 32, builder, Paul David Norris, 36, vat cleaner, Brian Edward Pink, 52, orchard worker, and Anthony Jules Watkins, 47, concrete worker, are jointly charged with wounding Ian Margetson with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm, intentionally injuring Adam Taylor, assaulting Nicholas Todd and detaining Mr Todd without his consent.
They all deny the charges which arise from incidents in a cabin in the Wanaka Camping Ground and at a Wanaka house on June 13, 2004.
Their trial in Dunedin District Court is expected to take most of the week.
