Five men have been arrested and charged in relation to a street fight in West Auckland on Saturday morning which left one man fighting for his life.
Two of the accused are aged 17; the others are aged 20, 21 and 25.
The five will appear in Waitakere District Court tomorrow morning.
The 22-year-old victim received multiple injuries in what police believe was a fight between at least two groups, in the suburb of Henderson about 1.30am, Saturday.
He remains in a critical condition in Auckland Hospital with life threatening injuries after the fight.
A woman was also taken to hospital but her injuries were not life-threatening.
Detective Senior Sergeant John Sutton said police recovered a number of weapons after the fight, and inquiries were continuing today in the area of Rathgar Road.
Further arrests and charges were "possible", he said.
