A bend in a busy Auckland road with a history of crashes has claimed its fifth victim in two days and police are urging motorists to allow for its slippery surface on wet days.
On Sunday, four cars spun out and crashed near the intersection of Mt Eden Rd and Landscape Rd, Three Kings and at 10 am today a city-bound car spun after negotiating the bend, crossed the opposite side of the road and footpath, before smashing in to a house's concrete retaining wall.
A motorist travelling behind the out of control car managed to take evasive action.
The woman driver was checked on the spot by St John ambulance but did not require hospital treatment.
Sergeant Dylan Hannah-Jones, of the road policing team, said today's crash was due to a combination of speed and a wet road.
