The New Zealand helicopter pilot killed in a midair collision in New York was remembered yesterday on the rugby field.
Jeremy Clarke, 33, was one of nine people killed when a helicopter and a small plane collided over the Hudson River last week.
Clarke went to Rosmini College on Auckland's North Shore, and he was twice instrumental in helping the school win the North Harbour 1st XV title.
Before Rosmini's away match against Takapuna Grammar yesterday afternoon, there was a minute's silence for Clarke, and for another old boy, Gary Dellasola, who died of cancer.
Rosmini, wearing black armbands, went on to beat Takapuna 28-5.
In both the 1993 and 1994 finals, Clarke kicked the winning penalty for identical 6-5 wins over Massey High School.
Clarke was also Rosmini's head boy and vice-captain of its 1st X1 cricket team.
Clarke had lived in the United States since 2000.
Seven bodies, including Clarke's, had been recovered from the river.
