KEY POINTS:
Several fishing bans aimed at preserving threatened species come into effect from tomorrow.
Fisheries Minister Jim Anderton today reminded commercial and recreational fishers that bans on set netting, drift netting and trawling in many parts of the country, aimed at protecting the endangered Hector's and Maui's dolphins, take effect as does a four-year ban on fishing for blue cod in the Marlborough Sounds.
A High Court decision on Friday temporarily exempts fishers off some areas of the west coast of the North Island, the Marlborough Sounds, and at Te Waewae Bay in Southland from the dolphin-related bans.
