A fisherman has been rescued after a wave swept him ff rocks on Auckland's west coast today.
Police Eagle and Westpac Rescue Helicopters were dispatched to Piha after the alarm was raised.
Surf lifesaving and two private vessels also joined the search.
"Fortunately, this person was located by one of the vessels sent to assist and was returned to shore to care of Surf Life saving members, with only minor lacerations to his torso area," Inspector Scott Webb at the police communications centre said.
