A fisherman is missing on the Crooked River in the Moana area after failing to return home last night.
Constable Mike Tinnelly said a search using a tracking dog, kayaks, a helicopter and people on the ground had set out.
The missing man arrived in the Crooked River
area, near Greymouth, at about 7am yesterday.
Constable Tinnelly said the man was due back at 8pm last night.
He said while the weather and river conditions were good yesterday, today's forecast was for heavy rain.
