A showdown over pay is looming between the Ministry of Fisheries and more than 200 of its staff.
The Fisheries Officers say they are frustrated by the Ministry's reluctance to negotiate pay while contract talks are continuing. Public Service Association Secretary Richard Wagstaff says mediation has failed because the Ministry will not allow the 220 staff to talk about money.
Fisheries staff are meeting today to discuss what course of action to take if their meeting with the ministry tomorrow fails to bear fruit.
