KEY POINTS:
The first of a group of teenagers accused of pushing a bomb through a cat door and injuring an elderly pensioner last week has appeared in court.
Mitchell Ian Roberts, 17, entered no plea to several charges when he made a brief appearance in New Plymouth District Court yesterday.
Roberts, of New Plymouth, faces two charges of delivering an explosive device with reckless disregard and five charges of intentional damage.
The explosives charge carries a maximum sentence of seven years' jail.
Roberts was one of four teenagers who handed themselves in to the New Plymouth police on Saturday after publicity about one of their alleged victims.
The rest of Roberts' co-accused, who are all 16, are due to appear in New Plymouth Youth Court later this month.
The group is accused of putting bombs through the cat door of two homes, as well as blowing up several letterboxes.
Roberts has been remanded on bail to reappear on November 4.
