The mother of a 2-year-old says it is a miracle her son was not more badly injured after the boom from loud fireworks shattered her bedroom window and rained glass down on him.
Caleb Sheehan was cut on his hand and foot as well as hit on the head during the incident at his Tamatea home in Napier, about 9pm on Friday.

The toddler was in bed with his mother Marie Stephens, who was trying to keep him calm during the loud explosions from nearby fireworks.
"I got up to have a look and I pulled the curtain back at the same time as a huge one went off and I heard a crack and the glass broke."
