KEY POINTS:
A fire that began in a Wairarapa pine plantation early yesterday is still burning.
Wellington fire communications shift manager Andrew Tollison said the blaze at Hinakura, 20km south east of Martinborough, had burnt through 20 to 25 hectares of pine.
Between 30 and 40 members of the Wairarapa rural fire team were working to dampen hot spots today, after a skeleton crew worked through the night, Mr Tollison said.
A helicopter was on stand-by.
