A young mum emerged red-faced from a wardrobe in central Tauranga about 6.50 last night after a game of hide-and-seek with her 2-year-old went wrong.
Tauranga Fire Brigade senior station officer Len Sabin said the woman had been accidentally shut inside the wardrobe after hiding in it. Luckily she managed to coax her son to find her cellphone and pass it under the wardrobe door to her.
She then called 111 and the fire brigade came to her rescue.
Firefighters arrived to find a "very cute little 2-year-old quite entertained by having us around".
Fortunately the door to the Selwyn St home was unlocked when firefighters arrived.
"She'd only been in there for about 15 minutes," Mr Sabin said.
He said the embarrassed mum "swore black and blue" that she wouldn't be playing that game again.
