Masterton firefighters helped police arrest a man who had stolen a jacket from a washing line on Saturday.
Wairarapa police Sergeant Peter Rix said a member of the fire service had noticed that a jacket had disappeared off a washing line and saw a young man walking along a street wearing the jacket.
Firefighters followed the man in a fire truck until police arrived at the scene.
