A firefighter was injured while battling a blaze at a pine plantation in southern Wairarapa today.
Wellington fire communications shift manager Andrew Tollison said the fireman suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby medical centre for treatment around 9.30am.
The fire in Hinakura, 20km south east of Martinborough, broke out just after 5am this morning.
At 10am the fire had burnt through 25 hectares of pine.
"It is still a significant fire, it will take most of the day to get it under control," Mr Tollison said.
By 1pm Mr Tollison said there had been little change in the size of the fire, but reports from the scene were sketchy.
