KEY POINTS:
Firefighters are still dampening down hotspots at the scene of a large house fire in Lower Hutt this morning.
The fire, at a property in Prouse Cres, Naenae, started just after 9.30am when the Fire Service was alerted by a number of calls from the public.
The house was well ablaze when firefighters arrived but they quickly established that all the occupants had escaped safely, Fire Service spokesman Mike Wanoa said.
The fire is not at this stage thought to be suspicious.
