Firefighters were surprised to find a child stuck in a swing at a busy Hastings playground on Monday was not a small child - but a 16-year-old girl.
Hastings fire crews were called to the playground at Cornwall Park about 2.30pm after receiving an emergency call about a child stuck in playground equipment.
"The kid was about 16 years old," senior station officer Glenn Drew said.
"She was in the kids swing with a bucket seat and had the chain link around her with the clasp done up.
"She could get in, her weight wedged her in, but she couldn't fight gravity enough to lift herself out - she was pretty tightly wedged."
