KEY POINTS:
Firefighters are at the scene of a scrub fire in the coastal town of Raglan, 48km west of Hamilton.
Northern fire communications shift manager Megan Ruru told NZPA said about half a hectare of steep cliff terrain was on fire.
The cliff was off Ngarunui Road, which heads towards the beach.
Ms Ruru said emergency services were alerted to the fire at 4.24pm and it was well ablaze by the time they arrived.
The two Raglan fire appliances were at the scene but more were on their way from Hamilton and Ngaruawahia to help.
No houses were thought to be threatened by the fire, Ms Ruru said.
