Firefighters are currently battling a large scrub fire near Dargaville.
Fire north communications shift inspector Scott Osmond said about three hectares of vegetation were off Waipoua Settlement Rd in the Kaipara district were involved in fire.
A helicopter had been called in this morning to help extinguish the blaze. The Rural Fire Service were called to the fire at about 11pm, and had remained through the night, Mr Osmond said.
There were no houses or buildings nearby, and the Rural Fire Service were currently monitoring the situation, he said.
