KEY POINTS:
Firefighters are battling a large blaze at an industrial building in Timaru this evening.
Five fire appliances were fighting the fire at South Canterbury By-Products, an animal feed manufacturer in Washdyke on State Highway 1, north of Timaru.
The single story storage facility, about 40 by 15 metres, was ablaze, southern fire communications shift manager Andrew Norris said.
No one was in the building when the fire started.
He did not know the cause of the fire and said fire safety officers were investigating.
The blaze was not threatening any nearby properties.
