Firefighters battled a large Nelson house fire for two hours this morning before finally bringing it under control.
Emergency services received multiple calls to the massive blaze at a two-storey house as Nayland Rd, Stoke at 6.08am.
Stoke Volunteer Fire Brigade were first on the scene to find the property
well-ablaze.
They called for back-up from Richmond and Nelson, Fire and Emergency southern shift communications manager Rewi Grace said.
"It took a bit of time to extinguish this blaze," Grace said, with firefighters remaining at the scene into the afternoon.
