Firefighters were tonight battling a blaze in a Christchurch building that was threatening neighbouring buildings.
Five fire crews were fighting the fire on Stanley St, near Durham St South.
Southern Fire Service communications shift manager Riwai Grace told Fairfax the fire service were alerted just before 11pm. It was too early to say if the fire was suspicious.
Four other buildings were threatened but the fire is now understood to have been brought under control.
There were no reports of injuries but cordons were in place at Colombo St and Stanley St and Durham St Sth and Stanley St, Fairfax reported.
