Nine firefighting crews are attending a fire at Taieri College in Mosgiel.
Fire crews responded to a call of fire in a college hall just after 3pm and were still on site, Fire Service southern communications centre shift manager Brent Dunn said.
A small crowd gathered near the scene, where Green St is cordoned off to Church St.
The fire is believed to be under control.
