Proving that there's no job too tough for Carterton's hard-working volunteer firefighters, the team were called upon to rescue a forlorn moggy stuck in a tree on Friday.
Carterton fire chief Wayne Robinson said the tabby cat had spent most of the morning stuck up the tree in Augustus St, before firefighters came to the rescue at about 12.30pm.
Two firefighters on ladders were tasked with coaxing the cat down from the 9m tree.
"The rescue was a success," said Mr Robinson, before adding that it was one of their "toughest" missions that day.
The brigade was called upon to rescue animals about once or twice a year, he said.
