A woman has lost a personal grievance case over a dismissal involving two postcards and a chocolate fish.
Jill Waines worked part time at the Karamea Information and Resource Centre on the West Coast for about eight years, including six months as financial officer.
Security footage showed Ms Waines failing to scan two postcard purchases and removing money from an honesty jar to buy a chocolate fish.
She claimed her dismissal in January last year was unfair.
The Employment Relations Authority ruled Ms Waines either chose not to follow, or overlooked, her employer's policy for managing cash and therefore her employer was justified in concluding it could no longer trust her.
